Cheesecake

Once upon a time in a very different land lived Sniffy with Bert and their lovely children Mathew and Florentine. Because all the people of this land were cats so were Sniffy and her family. To be precise Mathew and Florentine were kittens.

“Me iz hungry,” meowed Mathew. He was still very little so he couldn’t speak very well.

“Mommy, can we eat something?” added Florentine, Mathew's older sister, and continued cleaning herself as she were taught. Cleaning was very important for her because she had so white fur after her mother that you could see on her every little speck.

“Kids, you’ve just had lunch! You are still hungry?” wondered Sniffy and shake her fluffy head.

“We wantz sum sweetz…” demanded Mathew and looked at his mother with his big blue eyes. Thanks to his black and white stripped fur it was almost impossible to say no to his look.

“Hm…” Sniffy was trying to remember, “there should be some cheesecake in the kitchen, go take a look.”

“Yeeey…” whooped Mathew and Florentine and ran to kitchen. It was a little bit difficult because their paws were sliding on the floor how each of them tried to be first in the kitchen. They fell more than once on the way but neither of them even noticed it. Sniffy had to smile when she saw them racing for the cake.

After a moment Sniffy heard Mathew screaming: “Mommy, mommy… there iz no sweetz! Not at all...”

“Where it could be then?” murmured Sniffy but she did not know. In that moment door to the house opened and Bert entered the room.

“Sweety, I’m home,” smiled Bert. He was so black that even dark night could envy him his fur.

“Hi, darling,” answered Sniffy. And because she heard children how they’re running to say hello to their father she hurried with question: “Do you know where the cheesecake is?”

„Daddy, daddy… where iz teh cake, daddy?” shouted Mathew once he and his sister rushed to the room and both of them started jumping around their father.

“Yeah… where is the cake, daddy?” echoed Florentine and added: “It’s not in the kitchen.”

“Where it could be?” said Bert pretending he didn’t know anything about the cake and trying to look serious: “Could someone eat it?”

“But, daddy…” sobbed Mathew and looked so sad that Bert couldn’t hold his smile anymore.

“It’s alright, sonny,” laugh Bert, „go and take a look in the big fridge in the hall. I put it there this morning.”

And before he had even the slightest chance to caress his kids with his soft paws they were speeding to the room where they had the big fridge…

…where they found beautiful cheesecake and lived happily ever after.
